RES520 Capstone Project

DESCRIPTION 

The purpose of this capstone unit is to provide students with the opportunity to integrate the knowledge gained throughout their course of study and to apply this to an authentic, work-based problem. This unit provides students with an opportunity to think holistically and critically whilst researching and formulating a feasible solution to a contemporary complex problem relating directly to their area of specialisation. Throughout this unit students will use advanced cognitive skills to think critically and apply research methods to plan and undertake a research-based project, analyse this situation faced, and present proposed solutions and/or recommendations. Students are expected to draw extensively on the knowledge and skills they have gained throughout the course.

Minimum of 70 cps and RES505 Applied Research Methods 


UNIT LEARNING OUTCOMES 

ULO1 Identify a complex contemporary emerging leadership issue or challenge within the area of specialisation

ULO2 Develop and independently execute the research proposal on the chosen leadership issue or challenge

ULO3 Undertake research data collection and data analysis as described in the research proposal on the identified emerging issue or challenge

ULO4 Demonstrate the application of advanced knowledge to the emerging issue or challenge within the area of specialisation through the formulation of practical and ethical solutions and/or recommendations

ULO5 Effectively disseminate findings and outcomes to a variety of audiences using highly developed communication skills
